March Updates

3 March 2009

Katie presented several sketches for game ideas focusing on balance and reaching exercises for our population. This also included some ideas on how to make the Wii Fit balance board safer for our cohort, including extending the surface and adding support bars. Claire will be working with both c# and flash on the Wii Fit to get inputs from the balance board.

Katie and Claire presented a research poster for this project at the Indiana University Women in Science Programs Research conference. They won first place in the undergraduate technology & mathematics category.

Spring Break, no meeting updates

24 March 2009

Higher fidelity balance board mock ups were created. The IRB application was started for summer user testing.

31 March 2009

A space and computer will be dedicated to our project as the Wii Fit can only be programmed using a windows machine. Sensor types for the Wii-mote or additional peripheral sensors were discussed for the best type of input for our reaching and balance. A flash mock up was done of the exercise/physical therapy game itself.
